Inspiring Your Children Cooperation
What is your actual method to get your child to cooperate?
If threats, orders, lecturing, warning has not worked for you, don’t worry. I can imagine that this way can make you feel tired, angry, guilty.
We ask kids to ‘’DO’’ things to help us around the house/ classroom, the dailylife…
· Self hygiene “brush your teeth'’,
· Safety “don’t climb that tree!’’,
· Dress up, we are gonna be late!
We also ask children to NOT DO things,
· “Don’t hit your sister!’’,
· ‘’Stop throwing food!’’,
· ‘’Don’t climb the shelfs!’’
Children get told what TO DO and what NOT DO all the day…and they should listen, because we are in charge, we are adults, we are trying to do our best to keep them safe, healthy, alive!
The problem is that nobody likes to be ordered around.
Do you like following orders? I don’t. Even if I go to a place and I see writing ‘’do not touch’’ I will touch.
Is human nature. We’re stuck with it, and our children are not different.
We resist being told what to do!. Direct orders provoke direct opposition. When we give children commands, we’re working against ourselves.
I have some questions for you.
